Jack the everyday soundguy finally gets a new Mac version of De-Feedback, available for download now at www.defeedback.ai
Your existing license works, as always for V1 updates. However, a few things to note:
-Once you open this new version, old versions will open in trial mode on that machine. If for some reason you want to use an old version again, you have to deactivate using this new version, then reactivate with the old version.
-Both the AU (.component) and VST3 versions should have improvements in CPU usage, showing more stability regardless of input content and across a wider range of machines, but the most significant improvements are with AU, and specifically for silicon M series machines. There's some coding magic there which is only possible with AU.
-We tried putting an optional level meter in the menu, but it defaults to being off whenever you reopen the UI because we really don't want people using it regularly, it's only meant for troubleshooting since it taxes the CPU in ways that might make things unstable, we're not sure yet.
-For those who want to do testing with pink noise and sine waves, we've added a "passthrough" mode (which also works without activation). It processes all the audio in the same way behind the scenes, but zeros out the coefficients right at the output stage. This way, you can do things like null tests using traditional test signals - without interference from the actual De-Feedback sonic effects - but the audio integrity is still subject to the CPU number crunching integrity.
-We've tightened up the Activation and Deactivation process, making things clearer and hopefully a bit easier and less prone to mistakes.
If this new version seems solid, then maybe in a few months we'll get it Apple signed and take it out of Beta so you don't have to deal with all the dumb security steps to get it working. Enjoy!
