"A Streetcar Named Desire" is American playwright Tennessee Williams’ greatest work, winning the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1948. Williams created a timeless tale of subjects considered taboo when the play premiered, but that still resonate today. Set in steamy New Orleans, this riveting story revolves around two of the most memorable characters in theatre: Blanche DuBois, a faded flower of the Old South, and her young brother-in-law Stanley Kowalski, an unrefined brute whose sensual relationship with his wife, Stella, is a force of nature that Blanche can’t quite comprehend—or accept. When Stanley’s poker buddy Mitch takes a shine to Blanche, she sees her chance for redemption. But nothing comes easy when you have deep secrets to hide.
