Beyond grateful to have had the opportunity to participate in this wonderful project for the .art.museum located at Palmer Cove in Salem, MA. The Muñecas Sin Rostro project inspired by Liliana Lime’s Dominican dolls (designed by ) was a way for Salem locals to tell their stories of their own cultural experiences in Salem.
I was lucky enough to have been able to both tell my story, and as an artist design and paint my own doll. As a Mexican American I often felt that I could not identify completely with either one of my cultures.I came to appreciate that I don’t have to choose just one to represent myself and instead can blend these two beautiful worlds. Having two cultures enriched me and colored my life far more than just one could have. I hope others with a similar story can see themselves here and take pride in their own multicultural identity. ❤️
I hope that you all get a chance to visit Palmer Cove Park in Salem, MA to see all of the beautiful dolls. 📍
A special thank you to my mother for being a huge source of inspiration and help; and to my fiancé for his support and paint mixing talents. ❤️🎨
