Our first-ever Down To Earth Dance Collective (DTE) Open Floor Night was truly one for the books!
What an incredible night. We sold out the event, with a few standing-room-only spots available, and brought together more than 80 people between performers and audience members.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who came out to perform, support, and witness this special night. My goal for the evening was simple: to inspire. Whether that inspiration was to dance, create, pursue a passion, or simply try something new, I hoped people would leave feeling a little more energized and alive. After the show, I kept hearing the words “That was so inspiring…” and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better outcome.
To all of our performers: thank you for bringing your passion, talent, and creativity to the stage. You were the heart and soul of the evening, and your performances were nothing short of amazing.
A special thank you as well to DJ C-Raye for generously donating his time and talents as our DJ, handling the sound and music for the evening.
As for me, I was definitely pretty nervous stepping into my very first run as an MC, but once we got underway, I settled in and had a great time.
Like any first-time event, I’ve already got a list of improvements and refinements I’d like to make for next time, but all in all, I’d call the evening a tremendous success.
What makes it even more special to me is that from the final concept to event night was only 28 days. Watching something I had envisioned come to life in less than a month—and getting to share the stage alongside so many talented performers—was incredibly rewarding. The evening ended with a standing ovation, cheers, whistles, and an overwhelming sense of community, appreciation, and inspiration.
We also ended the evening with nearly another hour of open dancing, and I think it’s safe to say that will become a regular part of future Open Floor Nights.
Enjoy this collage recap of the evening, and stay tuned for a video highlight reel coming in the next week or two featuring some of the night’s incredible performances.
I’d love to hold these events more often, but our next Open Floor Night won’t be until Friday, October 2. Once we get rolling, my hope is to make them a more regular occurrence.
If you’re interested in performing or volunteering, I’d love to hear from you. Stay tuned for updates and information on when tickets for the next event will go on sale.
Thank you again for helping make DTE’s first-ever Open Floor Night such a memorable and inspiring evening. I can’t wait to do it again!
Much Love,
Cristi
