Senior Spotlight, Aracely Sanchez!!

Aracely has been in band for 8 years and has been apart of Wind Ensemble, Jazz 1, Marching band, Symphony Orchestra, and pep band.

Favorite memory: “Some of my favorite memories are the late nights that Aide, Clariza and I share during our band trips, especially San Francisco and Disney. I’ll also never forget the feeling of playing the last note of our sets at state and just taking in that moment with everyone.”

Favorite piece: Give Us This Day

Her plans after highschool are to attend Western Oregon University for Nursing.

Come support the talented jazz musicians from the McKay area, featuring McKay’s very own Jazz 1, Jazz 2, and McKay Combo, along with performances from the Waldo and Stephens Middle School Jazz Bands. Gabriella has been in band for 8 years shes been in Wind Ensemble, Jazz 1, Symphony Orchestra, Marching band and pep band.

Favorite memory:”There’s too many memory’s to pick a favorite but I really enjoyed every trip especially San Fran and Idaho because everyone got so much closer and had a good time”

Favorite piece: Give Us This Day

Her plans after Highschool are to attend Chemeketa Community College and become a paramedic.

Senior Spotlight, Aide Ramos!!!

Aide has been in band for 8 years and has been part of Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Marching Band, and Pit Orchestra.

Favorite memory: “There have been so many core memories made because of band, but besides all the fun trips we’ve gotten to go on my favorite memory would definitely be state this year, but specifically being on FaceTime for awards on Aracely’s iPad and taken to the stage after being announced for second place for a picture.”

Favorite piece: One Life Beautiful

Her future plans are to attend the University of Oregon and major in Landscape architecture as well as minor in art.

Senior Spotlight, Kanjana Kosol Also known as KJ.

KJ has been in band for “4 years, kinda 5, also kinda 7 it’s hard to explain.” and has been apart of Wind Ensemble, Jazz 1, Marching Band, Chamber Percussion, Symphony Orchestra, and Pep Band. He was also a Drum Major this year!

Favorite memory: ‘’my favorite memory was when I got to go to San Francisco my freshman year. Exploring the city was so fun, and this trip was a big reason i got closer to a lot of people in band. I made a lot of my closest friends because of SF.
Also shoutout to the homeless guy.”

Favorite piece: Wine-Dark Sea

His future plans are to get his bachelor’s in BioHealth Sciences at OSU, attend medical school, and eventually become a physician.

Starting off our Senior Spotlight, Clariza Torres!!!

Clariza has been in band for 7 years and has been apart of Wind Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Pit Orchestra, and Marching Band. She was also a Drum Major this year!

Her favorite memory: “It’s hard to pick a favorite band memory, but something I’m really proud of was when percussion ensemble took 3rd place at state solo ensemble last year, it was also the very first time Mckay percussion ensemble had placed first at districts and it’s something ill never forget.”

Favorite piece: Danzón No.2

Her future plans are to attend PCC on the pre nursing route and then transfer to a four year Nursing BS program.
