Throwback to 4 years ago when I hit my goal weight… 💪🏻🏋️♀️
I keep these pics for motivation & inspiration because, if I did it then, I can do it again. I’m pretty darn close too…
I’ve dropped 15 lbs since Thanksgiving and have been totally committed to my workouts and diet. And even though I’m a fitness instructor myself, there’s a ton of value in having a coach where someone else holds you accountable. With this idea in mind, I started working with a personal trainer in Jan. And yea… weight training helps. A lot. So does showing up for yourself on a daily basis and prioritizing your health and fitness. It’s not selfish. It’s self love.
Speaking of self love (and what a bumpy road it can be)…
When I originally posted these photos, I remember being self conscious about them but I shared the pics anyway. I’ve never liked showing off my stomach. Growing up, I was always jealous of my friends with petite figures and small waists. No matter how much I exercised, I could never seem to reach the unrealistic goals that I’d set for myself because my body simply isn’t designed that way.
But I’ve come to realize that what we see in the mirror isn’t always a reflection of reality.
Sometimes, a past mindset infiltrates the present, and it’s important to notice when a negative thought is just that - and nothing more.
Now, all these years later - I’m finally learning to love myself exactly as I am. I may not have a 24 inch waist, but I have a strong, muscular core. I may not ever see 125 lbs on the scale, but I see a healthy number that’s better suited to my height and body type. I may never be a great runner. But I can hula hoop like a ‘mo ‘fo and I’m pretty good at boxing too. 🥊 And I may not be at my goal weight right now, in this moment. But I’m on my way and making great progress. So there’s still reason to celebrate. 🎉
It’s amazing when we reach our goals - but the journey of getting there is where the real magic happens. Loving and appreciating ourselves each step of the way makes the reward that much sweeter. 💕
