🎉Happy birthday Zulma Steele, born on this day in 1881.

Zulma Steele is considered one of the pioneering women of the of the Arts and Crafts movement and an influential artist for the Byrdcliffe Art Colony, where she spent twenty years as their lead designer. Devoted to painting and print-making, Steele created and collaborated on many designs including furniture, ceramics, textiles and frame-making. Inspired by nature, flowers like narcissus, mountain laurel, lilies, fruiting sweet chestnut and wild carrots adorn her designs. Her signature lily became the official symbol for the Byrdcliffe brand and was used to mark their furniture.
