e parties, corporate events, and community celebrations. Our performers create vibrant, interactive experiences that become the highlight of the night and the stories guests keep telling. We also host dance workshops and community events for all experience levels, inviting people to connect, move, and celebrate through cultural dance. Hip Expressions was founded in 2004 by Johanna ‘Zenobia’ and Karen Sun Ray as a belly dance collective dedicated to creating and sustaining a community of dancers. This started with weekly dance classes, and monthly showcases called 'haflas' as a place for dancers to share their art and their passion.

Meet Omaris, also known as the Dominican Rose, or simply art in motion. She's spent more than two decades performing and teaching across thirteen countries.

She's been part of the Hip Expressions community in St. Pete since 2007, and an original dancer of Kafkasso since 2009, where she blends her artistry with live music.

Offstage, she built RedButterfly by Omaris, her own clothing brand inspired by butterflies and the beauty of women in all their diversity.

What sets her apart isn't just technique. It's musicality, the ability to express every nuance of a song with her body, and a gift for teaching others to find their own authentic style.

And she's right here in Tampa Bay.
