Featured Artist,
Jason Knudson - Illustrator, Drummer, Graphic Designer

Jason moved to Mankato in 1989, and he's been a part of the music scene here ever since. He remembers back in the day when Mankato was known as thee punk rock music town, drawing and creating posters for music show, art exhibits, events, and has done his fair share of street art from big to small. Knudson shared, " I moved to kato in 1989, even thou I've been drawing since I was a kid, I never took it seriously until college."

Jason opens up saying, "Making work has always been something i have to do. The urge might go away for months at a time, but the ideas eventually spill out of me and there's no stopping them - it's cost me lots of sleep and stress over the years."

Jason has also been playing drums and music in Mankato since he got here. Jason shares, " I joined my first band in 1990 as a singer, had never played an instrument and had just basically sang along with my favorite albums forever. I started drumming for the band Porcelain Boys in 1996 and have been drumming / singing (sometimes both at the same time) since
My friends thought i was a pretty good air drummer, so my roommate borrowed me some money to buy a cheap drum kit back in 95, and it was pedal to the metal from there."

He knows the in's and out's of music in this town and gives many hours of his time to local non-profits in making sure our arts and culture stay thriving.

Durning the day he works at Fun.com as an illustrator and graphic designer, also mentoring younger designers as well.

Mission:
M.A.C is a public access program creating awareness and advocacy for Minnesota's creative communities. Our goal is to engage the greater Mankato area with unique forms of arts and culture, innovative creative leaders, and breaking down the stereotype of who and what makes an artist.

M.A.C highlights visual art, music, literature, theater, and dance. Host Dana Sikkila works hands on with artist and community members, leading them in personal and professional interviews and demonstrations inside the KTV studio as well as on site in artist studios.

Along the way M.A.C will also be speaking with local arts organizations ranging from art spaces, theatre groups, choirs, and literary groups. Not just communicating with their staff but also with volunteers who have committed their time to the organization, in hopes to encourage and advocate for local volunteering.

M.A.C will push conversations with city officials and business owners about how art is being incorporated into our city structures and making sure public art and experiences are not just the “decorative toping” of city planning. To dive into what we can look forward to in the future.
