I am so picky about measuring my clay! Here are some of my favorites: Teacups! 8oz, Tumbler 12 or 14oz, Mugs 14 or16oz. When I get ready to throw, I typically work in 25lb batches as clay comes from the supplier in 50lb boxes. When I get the clay open, I'll prepare an entire 25lb bag for one product and then throw until the bag is complete. The more precise I am when I measure out each ball of clay, the easier it is to throw speedy and consistently at the wheel.

Working in the new studio is such a joy! Planning a workspace is such an exciting activity. Choosing all of the little things that go into making art just the way I want it is so much fun. Look forward to an open house this fall!

Ok I lied! I couldn't wait to share and since Minnehaha Falls Art Fair starts today you gotta know what you'd be missing out on! There are twenty of these cuties and each one features slight variations in the ex*****on of this idea.

I CAN'T BELIEVE Minnehaha Falls Art Fair BEGINS TOMORROW?!

Anywho: I'm thrilled with these lidded water pitchers. I particularly like how well this all comes together and pours beautifully. The colors on these pots were all achieved with only two glazes per pot and I think that's pretty neat.

That's the wrap on the greenware phase of the platters. The next steps for these platters all happens in the chemical process of firing ceramic bodies. The progression up to cone 06 (around 1800 degrees Fahrenheit) includes things like quartz inversion, glass structures begin to form, chemical water leaves the clay body.
