We're kicking off our World Giraffe Day celebration today!

Stop by Como Zoo this weekend to celebrate Skeeter, Zinnia, and Ivy, our reticulated giraffe herd, and learn why giraffes need our help.

🦒 Help our Nature Walkers create browse bags for the giraffes at the Feeding Station
🦒 Join us for a zookeeper talk at 11 a.m.
🦒 Watch for special giraffe-themed enrichment throughout the Zoo

Did you know giraffe populations have declined by nearly 30% over the last 35 years? Today, only about 140,000 giraffes remain in the wild. As "engineers of the landscape," giraffes help shape ecosystems by selectively browsing trees and dispersing seeds.

We're proud to support giraffe conservation through our partnership with Wild Nature Institute in Tanzania. This November, Senior Zookeeper Jill will travel to Tanzania as part of Como's Conservation Champions program to assist with giraffe research in the field.

Come celebrate the world's tallest animal with us this weekend!

This weekend, we're celebrating some of our tallest residents!

Join us Saturday and Sunday for World Giraffe Day as we spotlight Skeeter, Zinnia, and Ivy, learn more about giraffe conservation, and discover how Como is helping protect giraffes in the wild. Stop by the Giraffe Feeding Station from 10 a.m. to noon to help prepare browse, chat with our Nature Walkers, and celebrate these incredible animals with us.

It's a fun way to learn more about giraffes, the challenges they face, and the work being done to ensure they continue to thrive for generations to come.

☔ Groovin’ In The Garden Update ☔

Unfortunately, tonight’s Groovin’ In The Garden concert featuring the fabulous Miss Georgia Peach has been cancelled due to the forecast for persistent rain and cool temperatures throughout the day and evening.

We know weather forecasts are not always perfect, and whenever possible, we prefer to wait things out and make decisions closer to showtime. However, what many people don't see is that setup for the concert begins around 3:00 p.m., several hours before the first note is played.

While severe weather is not currently in the forecast, steady rain showers are expected throughout the afternoon and evening. Putting on a concert involves a significant amount of equipment that does not mix well with water, including soundboards, amplifiers, guitars, drums, microphones, speakers, and plenty of electrical connections. Protecting that equipment, along with the safety of our performers, vendors, staff, and guests, requires us to make the call early.

We are hopeful that we can find a date later this summer to reschedule Miss Georgia Peach and will share details if and when a new date is confirmed.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support of Groovin’ In The Garden. We look forward to seeing everyone next week when Jellyjacket takes the stage!

Stay dry, and we'll see you soon. 🎶☔

It's ! 👅

We know... we've been a little baby sloth heavy with our posts lately.

But have you SEEN this face?!

Sago's little one is getting stronger every day and continues to provide a daily dose of cuteness for everyone lucky enough to spot it. So we're going to keep sharing photos until someone tells us to stop. (And honestly, we're not sure we'd listen anyway.)

Have a great Tuesday, and if you need a little stress relief, come visit us soon!

🌿 This Week’s Gardener Talks (6/15–6/21) 🌿

Oops! We’re a little late getting this week’s schedule posted, which means we already missed Monday’s talk. But there are still six more opportunities this week to learn from Como’s horticulture staff during our free daily Gardener Talks at 1 p.m.

This week features a Secret Garden Rooftop Tour, a Japanese Garden Talk, Minnesota native plants, bonsai, carnivorous plants, and a behind-the-scenes look at the Sunken Garden show change. 🌱✨

Whether you're a seasoned gardener or just curious about the plants around you, come spend your lunch hour exploring the gardens and learning something new.

It's Monday.

Before you answer that email, join that meeting, or wonder why the weekend went by so fast, please enjoy 23 seconds of Sago and her baby sloth.

We can't solve all your problems, but we can show you a baby sloth. 🦥❤️

Horace is done blooming.

Horace is done smelling.

Horace is definitely not done selling merchandise.

If you missed the bloom, or just want a piece of one of the most talked-about events of the summer, the Como Friends Gift Shop is stocked with exclusive Horace apparel, mugs, stickers, keychains, and more.

The flower may be gone, but the legend lives on.

🎶 Thank You for an Amazing Start to Groovin’ In The Garden! 🎶

What a way to kick off Season 14!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us last night for our first Groovin’ In The Garden concert of the summer. We especially want to thank Innocent Reggae Band for bringing the incredible music, positive energy, and laid-back island vibes that made the evening so much fun.

Thank you as well to PolJam Food Truck for keeping everyone well fed with some delicious food throughout the night.

And a special shoutout to Mother Nature. After a torrential downpour right before showtime, she eventually got the memo and delivered a beautiful evening. We also want to thank all of you for sticking it out while the storm passed. Your patience was rewarded!

We'll do it all again next Wednesday at 6:00pm when Miss Georgia Peach takes the stage.

Same place. Same time. Same great summer tradition.

See you in the garden! 🌿🎵☀️

We kick off season 14 of Groovin' In The Garden this evening featuring Innocent Reggae Band! Spread out a blanket, grab a bite to eat from the PolJam food truck and take in some amazing music!

What about weather you say? Well, we're watching closely, and a little birdy told us that "the thunder storm threat over Como will be over by 3pm, then we will will see storm clouds to the east but that will be moving away from Como and skies will be Partly Cloudy 5p, - 8pm with decreasing Humidity after 6pm."

If anything changes we will post it here.

Pack a picnic and dancing shoes, spread out a blanket & join us for these FREE outdoor concerts & activities in front of the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory every Wednesday, June 10 – July 29 from 6pm–8pm.

🌺 One Last Hurrah for Horace 🌺

After an unforgettable few days, Horace the Co**se Flower is wrapping up his 2026 bloom and heading back behind the scenes for a well-deserved rest.

More than 5,000 visitors came to see (and smell!) this rare botanical wonder. Thank you to everyone who waited in line, shared photos, followed the updates, and helped make this bloom such a memorable event.

Horace spent years preparing for a show that lasted only a few days, but what a show it was.

Rest easy, Horace. We'll be ready when you're ready for an encore. 🌺
