Topic: Bridging Generations with The Angels of WIXK 1590am Radio

Black Crane was invited to be on 1590 AM Minnesota radio with the Angel's of WIXK to address the topic of Hmong Q***r and try to bridge the relational trauma we have with our elder Hmong generation.

For the past decade, the Hmong Q***r movement has been dominated by creating and establishing visibility within our community. Now that that foundation is established, we believe that it is the time we start bridging the gap and connecting the two generation through healthy dialogues, to hear about the hurt from both sides, and begin to heal those wounds and trauma. We understand that we all will always have differences with our elders and will never truly see eye-to-eye with one another as they do for us as well because the truth is everyone will always deep down want something else for another. But today's show is about learning how to be able to put those differences aside and be open enough to hear each other. Only then we can begin the healing process and better understand one another in creating healthier relationships even through our differences. Black Crane strongly believes the Hmong Q***r community needs to hear this conversation, and we also believe that the older generation needs to hear it as well.

Our hope is that this radio interview will spark conversations across the board and create safe spaces to talk with our parents' and or older generation without any hostility. To be able to spark conversations about learning to be open-minded about one another, to be brave enough to ask when one is purely curious and is unsure how to even begin certain conversations, to simply Q & A, along with redirecting our concerns in a way that we can empathize with one another.

Disclaimer: We understand that there may be certain things said on the show that some folks from both sides of the spectrum will not agree on, or feel as if it did not truly express their experiences. We are merely speaking from our knowledge and personal experiences only. Please also keep in mind that this conversation is not meant to challenge one another to change, but to communicate understanding.

Yay, we have a new video! 😊

Yasmi is one of the most popular and talked about artists right now within the Hmong community! We set out on a silly mission to find her and take a photo with her at the Hmong Tournament a few weeks ago. Along with finding Yasmi, we were also honored to be featured live on Nplooj radio! Watch as we reenact stereotypes of things Hmong people do at the tournament, along with our adventure to find one of the most controversial Hmong artists: our Yasmi!

Note: Yasmi, please excuse us for "intentionally" pronouncing your name incorretly and properly. It was only for comedy intent. You are a beautiful women and we are very much a fan of yours. Keep doing you and the cool work that you do. ❤
