🍂 September at the SPCO 🍂

This month, we kick off the 2026.27 season with two of our Artistic Partners! Conductor Gábor Takács-Nagy leads a program featuring a Beethoven symphony and Copland's Clarinet Concerto. Later this month, cellist Abel Selaocoe joins the SPCO and percussionist Sidiki Dembélé for an expressive, cross-genre journey through the music of European Baroque and West African royal courts.

Dreaming of cooler weather in September …

Opening Weekend is less than two months away, when we'll be joined by Artistic Partner Gábor Takács-Nagy for Aaron Copland's Clarinet Concerto, featuring our own Sang Yoon Kim. Through tender melodies and playful bursts of energy, we'll explore how folk and jazz have shaped American music.

Scenes from our 2025.26 season finale with Artistic Partner Gábor Takács-Nagy 🎶

Gábor always brings an energy that can be felt no matter where you sit in the hall! The Minnesota Star Tribune described our season finale with him as "a performance that felt as if the hall could barely contain his exuberance as he lunged, leaped and threw his arms wide open to embrace the symphony’s spirit of unmitigated rapture."

We can't wait for September when he'll be back to help us open the 2026.27 season!

Congratulations to SPCO Principal Violin Kyu-Young Kim who has been named as the next Artistic and Executive Director of Schubert Club. Come July, Kyu will depart the SPCO and assume his new role at our fellow downtown Arts Partnership organization. His final performances as an SPCO musician will take place at our 2025.26 season finale next week, June 12–14.

Though we will miss him greatly, we are excited for both Kyu and our friends at Schubert Club who are gaining an incredible leader and colleague!

🎹 Jonathan Biss is back!

Rehearsals are underway for nearly sold-out performances this weekend. He'll lead the orchestra from the piano in a free-flowing program of music written and inspired by Robert and Clara Schumann.

Our final two programs of the 2025.26 season see the return of two audience faves — pianist Jonathan Biss and conductor Gábor Takács-Nagy. As world-renowned performers, Jonathan and Gábor share an incredible charisma, whether leading the orchestra from the piano or podium. Join us for one last concert before the end of the season!
