Why do houses in Illinois have basements and houses in Texas don't if both places have clay soil?
This is a picture of a house in my neighborhood in Illinois that just started the excavation before construction and you can see it is clay all the way down. In Texas, more specifically the Dallas area, all the houses are built on slabs. I was told that in Texas, the clay soil expands and contracts, causing foundation damage if a basement was present. Why wouldn't Illinois have the same problem?

Drive-thru's are busier than ever.

The lines are backed up.

Waiting times increase.

Employees are overwhelmed trying to juggle drive-thru, mobile orders, and customers inside the restaurant all at once.

So the idea is apparently to encourage more people to come in rather than automatically opt for drive-thru.

This seems like a lot of BS and would put me off going to the drive-thru.

But I don't want to hear my own thoughts, I want to hear yours. Does it put you off fast food, does it make you want to go in? Isn't this extra dollar a cause for concern in today's economy? Feel free to argue. Try not to be a complete D*CK with your opinions. I know it's hard with this group.

And if you think this has nothing to do with professional wrestling. This is how some people get paid. Just enough to get food and some gas money in India. I said

Lately I've been noticing more and more restaurants putting up signs about tipping - and honestly, some of them feel less like friendly reminders and more like warnings before you enter. ā€œAnd while I fully understand that servers work hard and deserve a fair wage, the tone of these signs is getting peopleā€™s attention. Thereā€™s a big difference between treating people well online and on an app. Customers are overwhelmed by high menu prices, inflation, service fees, and ubiquitous tipping before they even sit down, so when restaurants seem almost confrontational, it starts to feel like the real tension is that most people want servers to be treated well.ā€
