Asylum Theatre

Asylum Theatre Minnesota's Public Theatre. Presenting original and classic works of dance, music, commedia, puppetry, plays, and new musical theatre. Thanks for your support.

Asylum is the leading public theatre for the people of Mpls-St.Paul and Greater Minnesota. We believe that putting an admission price on a ticket inevitably prohibits some potential theatre-goers from taking a risk with their hard-earned entertainment dollars. We also believe that patrons will gladly pay for something that has value to them. To that end, we will never charge for admission. We will

also gratefully take your donations and/or sponsorships at any time. Hope to see you soon, and down the road.

Art indoors! Asylum Theatre co-founder and company member Steve Cox is not only a joy on stage, our graphics designer, but he's also a cartoonist! Follow "The (mis)Adventures of Buttons & Tie Guy" for a daily dose of creativity!

Buttons & Tie Guy are a lovable duo who can't seem to stay out of trouble. Due to the current pandemic, we would like to bring some nonsensical joy to you and your families. If you like us, share us! Enjoy :)

Off theatre topic.

Amber and Steve are both yoga enthusiasts.
For quite some time Amber has wanted to lead a yoga retreat, starting with a place she used to call home, Los Cabos, Mexico. The time would be around this time next year, whale season. Anyone on here interested in doing that? A theatre element, a professional dancer friend will teach latin rhythms for the final night latin dance party.

1/4 of the antler frame for "Beaivi & the Reindeer." Each stage of creation is detailed, often tedious, and seemingly neverending. But the end result only seen in the artist's mind is why we never quit! I'm 1/16 finished!

Thank you to all who donated yesterday! There might be a part of you that thinks it's not a big deal, but those little deals together are a BIG deal to us.

The year isn't over yet! If you missed on the donating frenzy yesterday, you are welcome to still get your donation in for this tax year. https://asylum-theatre.givingfuel.com/asylum-theatre-donation

We've got super exciting things coming up in 2020. "Beaivi & the Reindeer" will show in Scandia, MN as part of Vinterfest on January 25th. We have the grand finale of the commedia dell'arte project in Italy in September. Latest confirmation, world premier of "Swan Soong" by Jyl Bonaguro will perform at Park Square Theater in St. Paul, MN July 9-19. Auditions will be coming soon for this beautifully scripted historical fiction play about 1940s China during the Japanese occupation and the ending of WWII to the rise of Mao. We've got our solid plans for this upcoming year, we want you to experience them, and we appreciate your financial support to do them!
