Let’s Talk About Space!
Reminder
Please remind your friends and yourself about the theater community meeting on Monday. ALL ARE WELCOME.
Arrive starting at 6, meeting begins at 6:30 and will go until 8.
The 1st 25 people through the door get free beer. The first 3 or 4 get to decide what kind of beer we will have. Muddy Pig has lots of great brews. TSP will also provide some munchies.
Muddy Pig is easy to find. Take the Dale street exit from 94. Go south. Muddy Pig is at Selby on the left.
This meeting is really important. The turn out will help us decide if there is enough interest and oomph to create a new space.
I love live performance. It inspires, entertains, educates and encourages us.
I really want to see a new space on the scene. I believe there is a need.
Over the last 2 1/2 years of looking for space it has become clear that it is a community project. It takes a lot of people doing what we each do best. We can be the pieces to each others puzzles.

See you Monday

Let’s talk about Space!
On Monday September 14th at 6:30 pm Theater Space Project’s Executive Director and Board invite you to participate in a meeting to talk about performance space in the Twin Cities and your personal desire and investment in seeing this happen.
The primary goal of this meeting is to assess if there is sufficient interest and support for a building a new performance space. The meeting will address issues of locations, resources, and skills/interest investment.

If you plan to attend no RSVP is necessary but it would be really, really helpful. All are welcome. If you are unable to attend please send board members, company members, director, designers, actors, and friends who value our local theater companies.

History: In 2003 TSP opened our first theater space. In 2006 we created the Lowry Lab and managed that space until 2013. Theater Space Project was forced to close the doors on the Lowry Lab Theatre which had been the Twin Cities quality, affordable performance space to such companies as Theatre Unbound, Gadfly Theatre, Table Salt Productions, and many others. Started in 2000 Theatre Space Project has aimed to support Real. Live. Theater. By providing artists with a space in which to present that is well managed and maintained.
Join us on Sept. 14th
Monday at 6:30 p.m.
Location TBD

Do we need another small performance space in town?

I keep going back and forth about whether to build a new rentable theater or close up Theater Space Project and move on. I still think we need another small theater space in town. One with no strings attached, no content restrictions, one that is a good place to work and perform, etc.

What I need to know is whether there is agreement among you all, the theater producing community.
If you agree please email me in the next 9 days. We need enough people who are interested on some level. Also needed: a few representatives of producing companies who will express interest in the name of their company. This is crucial for funding support.

Theater Space Project has theater equipment in storage. We saved everything from the Lowry Lab except the seats and risers.

For now; just reply and let me know of your possible interest. We can talk about how to proceed in September.

If there is not enough interest shown by August 21st; next Friday, then we will be folding up the organization and selling off our equipment.

2550 Wabash, which was suggested on this list, would make a good theater. Your input would be needed of course.

Here is what is needed to proceed:
A bunch of committed people; a couple dozen or more.
Several theater companies who are also willing to sign on.

I am going on vacation tomorrow for one week. I won’t be on email. When I get back I will count up the replies and based on that will either contact the interested parties or schedule the sale of our equipment and fold up Theater Space Project.

Thank you so much for your input.
