New piece. "HR-WG"

Cedar, rusted nails and screws, titanium wedding ring, blood.

I saw a Nova episode years ago about a tribe in Africa. There was a shaman that was hammering hundreds of nails into a piece of wood while saying someone's name over and over. He was performing a curse ritual. I thought it was interesting, intense, and beautiful. I always wanted to make a piece with that feel and intensity. I even followed some of the rituals in the process. I wanted to immerse myself in the process.

I'll probably add more to it, but it looks good right now.

Parley Lake Winery is excited to present our 13th ArtStock, which is a 2-day art, wine & music festival. In addition to the artist booths and the picturesque vineyard/orchard setting, live music fills the air both days, enhancing this wonderful summertime experience.

In partnership with The Arts Consortium of Carver County we welcome all artists and festival-goers to the 2024 ArtStock Art, Wine & Music Festival which includes an assortment of exciting new artists, as well as old favorites, representing diverse media such as photography, sculpture, wearable arts, glass, fibers, painting, and more… there is truly something for everyone!

"Sleepless of home"

Copper wire, earth, ash, acrylic, ink, 45 shells, driftwood, dyes, baking soda

I cut off an old ground unit and the aesthetic of the leftover parts was ideal for this. Someone shot my house and I found the shells the next morning, I decided to use them here as well. I used baking soda in the paint to draw the oils out of the ink for an organic decaying feel to the background.

Made from the obscurity and insanity I find around my home.

I have some of my art showing at the Arts Consortium of Carver County. The reception starts at 6:30. I was in the 'Life in abstraction' exhibit, I really liked the other artists that I met there, and their work was pretty top notch. I've got lots of good news lately, and I think this will be my night to celebrate!

I was so sick over the weekend that I could barely move. Since I didn't want to get up to clean brushes or fetch fresh water for watercolors, I finally decided to make use of my pastels.
