A brief hiatus and setback in backroom scheduling due to a very necessary political movement in Minnesota and across the globe. Systemic racism is built into almost every facet of our current economy and it’s structure. George Floyd died because of officers being taught to enact immediate violence on POC. There are ways you can define positive change directly. What are ways we hold our minority community members down? Once you can identify that: define a way specific to you that uplifts your community, your passion will in turn inspire others to enact change from dated beliefs. My services recently have been allotted to helping manage apparel sales for the Whittier based printing collective, . 100% of the profits will be donated back into the BIPOC Minneapolis community. I couldn’t be more proud and happy to help my peers. Thank you everyone, especially the artists we are representing on backroom for being patient and understanding! I will be getting back into the groove of working and responding to the amazing open call applications!

backroom originated as Waiting Room’s office and private salesroom at their first location in Loring Park. During that time all business was conducted in the “backroom.” And WR’s current director Kristina Johnson (KJ), worked as an intern under the gallery founder, Jehra Patrick. Nearly four years later, KJ is reviving backroom but with a unique spin: as an intimate exhibition space in an old bank vault.

backroom’s vault can be found on the 7th floor of the Northwestern Building in Suite 707.

TLDR; backroom exists as a showcase vault inside of Waiting Room’s new exhibition and event space!
