Join us at the Southern Theater for the world premiere of "Prem | Love: an Occupation," October 10-11 & 15-17 at 7:30pm.

From the Uprising following the murder of George Floyd to Operation Metro Surge, Prem unfolds against the backdrop of recent crises in the Twin Cities. Weathering chaos, horror, and exhaustion, we enter the flow of an energetic rhythm that sustains an ever-shifting, ever-responding network of care, spilling over with a deep, collective love. The work explores the internal texture of our experiences in these traumatic times, reaching toward transformation through practices of public love, care, and defiant joy that celebrate people power. PREM is our love letter to the Twin Cities’ history of resolute resistance, penned in Ananya Dance Theatre’s powerful, urgent, and timely contemporary dance form.

The second session of Our Storied Love in Cedar-Riverside is next Wednesday, September 2! We will share stories about occupation and liberation and ways that water teaches us how to flow. Celebrated singer/songwriter Mankwe Ndosi will teach musical phrases from a song she has composed, and Ananya Chatterjea will share simple gestures of choreography.

This gathering culminates in an outdoor procession through Cedar Riverside, with the River Tapestry created in previous workshops. Through public singing, gestures, and offerings, we will express a transformative public love for water and all of life.

This first session of Our Storied Love in Cedar-Riverside is next Thursday, August 27! We will begin with a movement meditation led by Ananya and Kealoha, then move into collage-making led by Jay. We will assemble a communal collaged River Tapestry as we consider the ripple effects of our own stories and actions of love for water and each other.

No dance, art, or music experience is needed! All ages are welcome. All activities are designed to meet people where they are.

This two-part workshop explores the ways water and love of public places intersect. Inspired by ADT’s summer of projects centered on the notion of public love, we will carry stories of water into this practice together. Attending both workshops is encouraged but not required.
