Located in Gigondas in France's Southern Rhône Valley, this legendary estate has been in the Barruol family since 1490. Today, w**emaker Louis Barruol carries on a remarkable tradition, crafting expressive, terroir-driven w**es from historic vineyards, including exceptional Grenache-based cuvées.

And here's something fascinating: The estate's cellars still contain ancient Gallo-Roman w**e fermentation vat.

Here's to 18 years of serving up delicious food in the place we're lucky to call home.

It was 18 years ago today, we opened our doors on Talbot Street with a simple idea: a neighborhood pizza place where people could gather for good food, good drinks, and good company. We had no idea that little dream would become what it is today. Ava's St. Michaels is where it all began, and St. Michaels is the reason it worked. There's a little bit of magic on each of these streets and we're so lucky to be in the center of it.

To our locals: you're the heartbeat of this place. Thank you for the Monday night pizzas, the years of Market Salads, bringing your friends and families (and pups) back time and time again, and so much more. To our visitors: thank you for finding us, for making us part of your trip, and for coming back each time you return to town (some 2+ times in a weekend!). And to everyone who has celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, engagements, graduations, and every milestone in between at our tables: thank you for trusting us with your most special moments. We don't take that lightly.

To every staff member who has ever tied an apron, tossed a pie, poured a glass, or bussed a table here: this place is yours, too. To those who have been with us through the good days and the harder ones, we couldn't have made it to 18 without you. You know who you are.

From one little pizza place came a whole family of restaurants, and we're still the same neighborhood spot at heart – no matter what. Here's to the next chapter, more pies, more pours, and plenty more nights around the table together.

🍷🍷 Like father, like daughter… but make it her own.

Agustina Hobbs is the daughter of Paul Hobbs (of **es), one of California's most celebrated and iconic w**emakers. And her Cabernet? Simply outstanding.

Her debut release, the 2022 ALH Coombsville Cabernet Sauvignon, is dark-fruited, silky, and fresh, with fine tannins that make it a pleasure to drink now (though it’ll happily wait if you have the patience).

🍷 The Atlantic's Premier W**e Weekend: How It All Began 🥂🍇

In 2010, we had a simple idea: turn the whole town of St. Michaels into a w**e tasting. Great w**es, great food, and a reason to wander from one door to the next.

Then came a few quieter years. From 2020 through 2024, W**eFest ran as a single-location, VIP-only event. Still good w**e, just a lot less wandering.

In 2025, we got our town back. Maryland w**eries now set up in shops and venues all over St. Michaels, and for one weekend the whole place becomes a walkable tasting.

One thing never changed. W**eFest is run by a charitable organization and supports charities on both sides of the Chesapeake Bay. Giving back has been part of the plan since day one.

W**eFest at St. Michaels returns April 24 & 25, 2027, for our 18th year, come walk it with us.
