Some jobs start with a design file that looks right on screen but still needs to be engineered for production.
A local fabrication shop brought Cru Bear a customer-supplied STEP file for a conference-table accent nearly 32 inches wide. We transformed it into eight printable sections, engineered a fitted connector system, produced a proof, and then repeated the process for two additional sets.
Each matte-black PLA set was engineered and handcrafted in our Louisville shop, then delivered partially assembled and unfinished so the fabricator could complete it within its own mounting and finishing workflow.

**From Digital Sculpture to Physical Prototype**

For this project, we collaborated with a sculptor to produce an **18-inch, 1/8-scale prototype** of a planned **1.5x life-size statue**. Because of its size and complexity, the model was 3D printed in multiple sections and assembled into a detailed presentation piece.

🗿 Bringing Digital Art Into the Real World

This project features a limited-edition sculpture printed for an artist as part of a small production run. The piece stands approximately 12 inches tall, with a 6-inch figure positioned on a dramatic 6-inch rock monolith base overlooking the cliffside below.

The figure was printed using a brass metal-filled filament, while the base was produced in a brown earth-tone material to create a natural stone appearance. Each sculpture will receive custom patina work and hand-finished details from the artist, making every piece unique.

Had some fun printing this 9" Scooby-Doo model in 6 colors and assembling it from multiple parts — really happy with how this one turned out.

Multi-color prints like this are always fun to watch come together layer by layer.

Another fun one finished up in the Cru Bear workshop.

This oversized 15” multi-color Piranha Plant display came together really nice. The build features a hollow lightweight base with a removable screw-on cap along with a large multi-part print designed for cleaner detail and better overall finish quality.

Printed in 5 colors with layered dimensional details throughout the entire piece — no paint, just multi-color printing and a lot of setup time.

These larger projects take quite a bit of planning between print orientation, seams, supports, color changes, and assembly, but the final result was worth it.
