🎳 THROUGH THE FRAMES: MORE THAN A GAME 🎳
⭐ Meet: Cheryl Skorupa ⭐
For some, bowling is just a sport. For others, it’s a lifelong tradition that brings generations together. ❤️
This week, we’re excited to feature Cheryl Skorupa, whose bowling journey began as a young child growing up around the lanes at Blossom Lanes.
With 48 years of league bowling under her belt, Cheryl has experienced just about everything the sport has to offer. From childhood memories with her grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles and siblings to now sharing the lanes with her husband and sons, bowling has always been a family affair!
We had the opportunity to ask Cheryl a few questions about her bowling journey, her accomplishments, and what the sport means to her.
🎳 1. Does bowling run in your family?
💬 “I think it started with my grandparents on my mom’s side. I grew up at Blossom Lanes, and all my brothers and parents bowled.”
🎳 2. What are some of your earliest memories of growing up around the bowling alley?
💬 “Climbing around the alley and falling asleep by the lanes. Finding quarters for the arcade.”
🎳 3. Your husband and both of your sons are involved in bowling. What does sharing that time together mean to you?
💬 “It’s absolutely priceless. I wasn’t sure if I’d come back to bowling, and now it’s been incredible.”
🎳 4. Is there a little friendly competition between family members? Who usually has the bragging rights?
💬 “Absolutely! It varies. Lately it’s been Vince, especially with his recent 300 game.”
🏆 5. What has been your proudest accomplishment or most memorable moment in bowling?
💬 “My 801 series at Blossom Lanes. I bowled that first, and the same year I shot two 300 games! My dad always says he taught me everything I know, and that I went above and beyond.”
🎳 6. What has bowling given you outside of the sport itself? Friendships, memories, or time spent with family?
💬 “All of the above. There’s something special about walking into the alley each week and still seeing a lot of the same bowlers I grew up with. And watching my son, Vince, bowl a 300 during league instead of just hearing about it after. It’s been amazing.”
🎳 7. What advice would you give someone just starting out in league bowling?
💬 “Watch everyone who throws a good ball and listen to their advice on ball adjustments.”
🎳 8. What is one of the biggest changes you’ve seen in bowling over the years?
💬”The changes in equipment, which lead to a lot of big scores.”
❤️ 9. If you could go back and tell your younger self that one day you’d be sharing the lanes with your husband and sons, what do you think she’d say?
💬 “You’re nuts!”

💙💛 MORE THAN A GAME.
Cheryl’s story is a perfect example of what makes bowling so special. It’s not just about the strikes, spares, or even those incredible 300 games. It’s about the people standing beside you, the memories made along the way, and the traditions passed down through generations.
From a little girl falling asleep beside the lanes at Blossom Lanes to a wife and mother sharing Friday nights with her family, Cheryl’s love for bowling has truly come full circle.
Thank you, Cheryl, for sharing your story with us and for being part of our Striker’s Bowl family! 🎳❤️
“Did you grow up spending time at your local bowling alley? We’d love to hear some of your favorite memories in the comments!”
