Learning the Difference Between Religious Effort and Being Saved
Few things are more admirable than sincere devotion.
Many people are deeply committed, hardworking, disciplined, generous, and morally upright. Yet Romans 10 presents a sobering reality: sincerity alone does not save.
The Apostle Paul spoke of people who possessed great religious zeal, or enthusiasm, but their zeal was pointed in the wrong direction. They were trying to reach God through their own efforts rather than receiving the righteousness that God freely provides through Jesus Christ.
