Dear Skating Friends-
We know today was rough news - for us too.
Sadly the fate of the B&J building was sealed on June 22 when a fire that burned for almost 3 hours melted the frame of the building. There was no coming back from that. The building was deemed unsafe and had to be torn down.
The question is, are we rebuilding? No, B&J Skate Center is not going to be back the way it was. We are going to redevelop the land but it won’t be the same and we know how hard that is. You need to know that this decision was gut wrenching for all of us — we miss our people. We wonder what happened to all of the regulars. We cried when we had to turn away field trip groups this year. We miss our team-some who have worked in that building most of their lives.
Speaking of our people. One of our favorite groups to support was the Noyes Home who skated free with us every Sunday for decades. The money that was so generously raised to support us back in June is being donated to the Noyes home - earmarked for outings for the children.
We promise to share when plans are ready of what will be at 6421 N Belt Hwy. This has been a long process and still isn’t over.
Thank you SO much to all who have supported us during this time, the roller coaster of a total loss fire has not been easy.
B&J would have soon celebrated 50 years in business and we are proud to have been a part of the lives of so many. Thank you for your understanding and for the memories.
Remember to be kind to one another.
