Fun painting for my daughter. I wanted to try some new techniques and asked my daughter if she would like a landscape painting. Obviously, she said yes so, I asked her if there was anything in particular, she wanted in the painting. To which she replied, and I quote, "A bug." My initial response was "ok but I don't know how you're going to see a tiny bug in a landscape painting. Let me think about it." So I thought about it and figured the easiest answer was to make it a giant bug. I had no idea how my daughter was going to take to the suggestion but when I asked her, she was all for it. And that is how you end up with a giant bug in a landscape painting.

Sidenote: We saw many praying mantises around our house around the time I did this painting, so I figured why not make the giant bug a bit mantis like in appearance.
