This weekend only is your chance to see The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) [revised] [again] at the Napa Valley College Performing Arts Center Studio Theater.

Whether you’re a lifelong Shakespeare enthusiast or someone who decided long ago that Shakespeare wasn’t for you, this irreverent take on the Bard has something for everyone. Sword fights, romance, tragedy, comedy, and surprises all collide in a breakneck celebration of Shakespeare’s plays.

Following its popular summer performances at di Rosa Center for Contemporary Art as part of the Shakespeare Summer Stroll, the production returns for three encore performances. Audiences who missed the summer run, or simply want to see it again in a different venue, will have another chance to experience this hilarious theatrical sprint through all 37 of Shakespeare’s plays.

Directed by Olivia Cowell and starring Matthew Cowell, Rio Codda, and Sofia Quiñones, with costumes by Freya Marcelius, the production delivers nonstop comedy as three fearless actors attempt to tackle Shakespeare’s entire canon. Expect outrageous characters, lightning-fast costume changes, physical comedy, clever improvisation, audience interaction, and plenty of theatrical chaos.

Originally created by the Reduced Shakespeare Company, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) has become a worldwide theatrical phenomenon since its premiere at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 1987. The play has been translated into dozens of languages and remains one of the most-produced plays in the world.

Note that the show contains fast-paced comedy, innuendo, adult language, sound effects, slapstick comedy, and audience interaction- PG-13 recommended.

Opens this weekend!

This season isn’t a schedule of shows, it’s a set of relationships.

Our 2026-2027 season begins in partnership, with Alebrijes del Valle and Shakespeare Napa Valley bringing Barrio Hollywood to the Studio Theater this Friday. Led by NVC Theater Arts alumnus and in partnership with Shakespeare Napa Valley and Napa Valley College, their work is a reminder of why the Napa Valley College Performing Arts Center exists: not as a rental venue, but as a home for the artists and organizations who make Napa Valley’s cultural life.
