Public art is a community effort.

Every sculpture, artist visit, educational opportunity, and exhibition experience is made possible through the support of local businesses, organizations, and community partners who believe that art belongs in shared public spaces.

Their investment helps Art Around the Corner continue bringing world-class sculpture to Southern Utah while making art accessible to residents and visitors alike.

Today, we'd like to recognize and thank our sponsors for their support, generosity, and commitment to enriching our community through the arts.

In Rip Tide, Diego Harris uses steel to suggest the movement and energy of water.

The sculpture combines industrial materials with shapes inspired by natural motion. Depending on where you stand, the form can feel calm, forceful, or constantly shifting.

That contrast between heavy material and fluid movement is part of what makes the piece interesting to experience in person.

What natural element would you want to see interpreted through sculpture?

Daniel Borup’s Steady uses stacked tortoises to explore ideas about patience, persistence, and balance.

At first the sculpture feels humorous, but the longer you look at it, the more it starts to reflect the idea that progress often happens slowly and consistently.

The familiar tortoise reference also connects back to the classic lesson about persistence over speed.

Who in your life would you describe as steady and dependable?

Water is critical to life — and in the Southwest, it’s something we can never take for granted.
With ongoing conversations around Utah’s climate, growth, and water future, today we’re reflecting on Water Watcher by Mark Stevenson. Inspired by petroglyphs and pictographs from Utah and the Pacific Northwest, the sculpture explores the relationship between people, water, and survival in arid landscapes. Its stainless-steel surface shifts throughout the day as light moves across it, giving the piece a constantly changing presence. Public art has a unique way of connecting history, environment, and community conversation in one shared space. What stands out to you most when you look at this sculpture?

While checking out the St. George Splash Pad this Spring scope out "Run Piggy Run" by Damian Radice. This unique work of art captures a quick moment of movement and energy.

The sculpture shows two pigs running together in a way that feels lively and full of personality. Even in bronze, the scene feels active and spontaneous.

Pieces like this remind people that sculpture can be playful and approachable, not just formal or serious.

What animal would you enjoy seeing represented in sculpture form?

Cordell Taylor’s Phoenix uses geometric steel forms to create a sculpture that feels balanced and active at the same time.

Even though the material is heavy industrial steel, the structure gives the impression of upward movement and growth. Different angles reveal different relationships between the forms.

The title Phoenix adds another layer to the work, suggesting rebuilding, transformation, and forward motion.

When you look at this sculpture, do you focus more on the engineering or the symbolism?

Some sculptures capture a moment. Others capture an attitude.

The Future's So Bright...I Gotta Wear Shades by Bobbie Carlyle radiates confidence without ever forcing it. The upward tilt of the face, the relaxed posture, the quiet certainty in the figure’s expression — it all feels like standing at the edge of possibility.

What’s powerful is how familiar that feeling is. Optimism. Independence. The sense that your future is still being written.

If you stood in front of this sculpture in person, what emotion would hit you first?
