BWS Art Gallery

BWS Art Gallery Photography, Painting and Sculpture to inspire the soul and warm the heart. He expresses his visions through both abstract imagery and narrative reality.

Barry Scharf is an artist who's work is centered in expressing the spiritual within nature. In this way the viewer is encouraged to experience feelings as imagery, sound as color and prayer as composition. His commercial work is approached with the same commitment of excellence as the fine art. He works to achieve the goals of his clients with a clarity of vision and simplicity of design that transforms image into understanding.

Please read proposed 28th amendment...and forward. This will only take 1 minute to read!
28th Amendment, 35 States and Counting.

It will take you less than a minute to read this. If you agree, please pass it on. It's an idea whose time has come to deal with this self-serving situation:

OUR PRESENT SITUATION !

Children of Congress members do not have to pay back their college student loans.

Staffers of Congress family members are also exempt from having to pay back student loans.

Members of Congress can retire at full pay after only one term.

Members of Congress have exempted themselves from many of the laws they have passed, under which ordinary citizens must live.
For example, they are exempt from any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment.

And as the latest example, they have exempted themselves from Healthcare Reform, in all of its aspects.

We must not tolerate an elite class of such people, elected as public servants and then putting themselves above the law.

I truly don't care if they are Democrat, Republican, Independent, or whatever. The self-serving must stop.

Governors of 35 states have filed suit against the Federal Government for imposing unlawful burdens upon their states. It only takes 38 (of the 50) States to convene a Constitutional Convention.

IF???

Each person that receives this will forward it on to 20 people, in three days most people in The United States of America will have the message.

Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution:

"Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the Citizens of the United States ..."

You are one of my 20.

We’re asking everyone to forward this email to a minimum of 20 people, and to ask each of those to do likewise.
In three days, most people in the United States will have the message. This is an idea that should be passed around, regardless of political party.

The Congressional Reform Act of 2017

1. No Tenure / No Pension. A Congressman/woman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they're out of office. And, no more perks go with them.

2. Congress (past, present, & future) participates in Social Security. All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.

3. Congress must purchase their own retirement plan, just as ALL Americans do.

4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people (i.e. NO MORE INSIDER TRADING!!!).

7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen/women are void. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen/women. Congress made all these contracts by and for themselves.

Serving in Congress is an honor and privilege, NOT a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators should serve their term(s), then go home and go back to work … not get all kinds of freebies.

Just hold your finger down then hit forward and send it to everyone you know.

Understanding the Creative Life today.
What is it that motivates a creative career today? Are we driven by a need to communicate, a need to express ourselves, or is it a desire to acquire wealth and fame? What will today’s society support and accept? Most of us were raised in the age of television, movies and the birth of the internet. This has manifested the visual society we live in today. We have watched as high schools have lost funding and cut art programs from their budgets resulting in several generations lost to the appreciation and value of the arts. As a result of the disintegration of understanding “art” and its place in culture artists and galleries struggle to survive. Traditional medias have fallen in interest in the public eye; paintings and sculptures no longer draw the kind of attention they used to. If it were not for technological advancements in digital imaging, animation, and web design I fear we would have lost our way. Old medias die and new ones take their place but the values and integrity must remain if consciousness and quality is to survive.

The history of art tells us that the artists’ life can be a long and difficult struggle with no assurance of recognition and self-sufficiency. Today there are fewer serious art collectors. Those galleries that still survive are less willing to take a chance on new artists and it seems there are less grants and funding opportunities available then ever in the past. The focus on the arts no longer appears to be on the creation of fine art in the classic approach but rather a shift to the technological applications of artistic skills.

Today society is preoccupied with the “selfie”, the visual action of computer games, animated movies, music videos, and web surfing. If contemporary culture is no longer concerned with the 20th century schools of painting or sculpture what has replaced these art forms? Clearly, traditional painting and sculpture will go on in some capacity because there will always be those who value the history and tradition that has long existed in these art forms?
This begs the question of what kind of artist it will take to be mainstream in today’s technology based and visually oriented society? What has changed and what will be next? It is clear that Photoshop has won the right to be called the foundational program to support all the visual arts of the last 20 years. It is in one way or another used in all visual professions. My classes at the Art Institute of Seattle were a mix of students from animators to photographers, from illustrators to art directors, and from web designers to fashion and interior designers. Now we are confronted with the next wave of technological advancement, “Artificial Intelligence” that will surely change everything once again.
