As we prepare to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, we’re honored to welcome Brigadier General Larry V. Lunt (Ret.) as our guest speaker at this year’s Flag Day Concert.

General Lunt’s remarkable career spans more than 36 years of military service, beginning as a pilot during the Vietnam War and continuing through the Cold War, the aftermath of 9/11, and his leadership as Commander of the Utah Air National Guard. His service to community, education, and civic life has continued long after his military retirement.

Combined with stirring patriotic favorites, including Battle Hymn of the Republic, God Bless the U.S.A., This Land Is Your Land, and more, his message promises to make this year’s concert especially meaningful as we begin commemorating America’s semiquincentennial.

Join the Southern Utah Heritage Choir for an evening of music, remembrance, gratitude, and celebration.

For generations, "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" has been sung at patriotic celebrations, community gatherings, and moments of national remembrance.

Written by abolitionist Julia Ward Howe during the Civil War, the hymn has inspired generations for more than 160 years. Nearly a century after it was written, the iconic choral arrangement by Peter J. Wilhousky was immortalized by The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square in a Grammy-winning performance, helping introduce the piece to audiences across the nation.

This Flag Day, join us as we celebrate the American story through powerful choral music, cherished patriotic traditions, and the voices of a community united in song.

For more than 30 years, patriotic music has been part of the heartbeat of the Heritage Choir. This year’s Voices of Freedom concert continues that tradition with a program that is both stirring and deeply personal, featuring beloved American hymns, powerful choral works, and moving tributes to the men and women who have served our country.

From the quiet reflection of "Wayfaring Stranger" to the soaring strength of "America, the Beautiful" and "Battle Hymn of the Republic", this music tells stories of sacrifice, hope, faith, and home. Pieces like "Come Home" and "Always Keep This Close" remind us that patriotism is deeply human and deeply rooted in family, memory, and community.

We’re also honored to welcome Brigadier General Larry V. Lunt (Ret.) as our featured speaker for this special concert weekend. His lifetime of military, civic, and community service brings an especially meaningful perspective to this year’s program.

Most importantly, we look forward to celebrating the veterans and active service members in our Southern Utah community during this Flag Day tradition. There’s something unforgettable about patriotic music filling the St. George Tabernacle, and we can’t wait to share this experience with you.

A belated but heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for Life Eternal earlier this month! To see the St. George Tabernacle filled with so many familiar faces, families, friends, and community members was deeply moving for all of us. Thank you for spending your evening and afternoon and your hearts with us.

One of the most special moments of the weekend was hearing our scholarship winners perform. Watching Sienna and Brayden step forward and share their gifts reminds us why community arts matter and why this choir continues to invest in the next generation of music makers.

For more than 30 years, this choir has been shaped by the people who attend, support, sing, volunteer, and believe in what choral music can do for a community. Thank you for being part of it.

While we’re still holding onto the spirit of Life Eternal, we’re also looking ahead. A new season is coming soon, along with some exciting changes and familiar traditions we cannot wait to share with you. Including one of our most beloved concerts of the year: Voices of Freedom coming this June. Stay tuned!

We’re also honored to feature our two scholarship winners, representing the next generation of musicians carrying that message forward through music.

St. George Tabernacle offers free admission (no tickets required). Important reminder: Seating is first come, first served, and the Tabernacle has been filling earlier each concerts so come early to make sure you get a seat. Come be part of something uplifting. This one is special.

Meet our second 2026 Heritage Choir Scholarship recipient: Siena Romney!

From a home filled with music to the concert stage, Siena’s journey has been shaped by dedication, discipline, and a deep love for vocal performance. A senior at Crimson Cliffs High School, she’s earned top honors at music festivals and performs across choir, orchestra, and musical theater.

Siena loves to perform in a variety of settings and has a strong belief in music's ability to create connections across audiences, backgrounds, and experiences! This fall, Siena will attend Southern Utah University to study Vocal Performance, continuing a path that’s already inspiring our community.

We’re proud to showcase our 2026 Scholarship winners at our concerts this coming weekend: Friday, April 10th at 7pm and Saturday, April 11th at 2pm.
