Great music for a great cause! Hear four of our choir members perform in “A Place for Us,” Saturday, August 29 at 6:30 p.m. at Sturdy Shelter Brewing. The musical fundraiser supports the community-building work of Becoming Neighbors, a partnership between Lumunos and Sturdy Shelter. It’s release day for our new CD, Dancing Tree!

This joyous celebration of the connections between choral music and nature includes works ranging from early 20th-century masterworks to contemporary pieces and was recorded at live performances between 2018 and 2025. The title work, written for St. Charles Singers, is Sir John Rutter’s Dancing Tree, an eight-song cycle drawn from the poetry of Charles Causley, whose verse blends folklore, nature, and emotional directness.

Additional songs on the album include works by Benjamin Britten, Claude Debussy, Charles Villiers Stanford, Jake Runstad and Charles Forsberg. The choir is accompanied by cellist Jean Hatmaker, harpist Erin Freund, bassist Joe Policastro, and pianist Stephen Uhl.

This week, more than 60 area high school students spent the day learning, practicing, and performing at our annual SING! workshop. At the day-long event, students work together to learn new work, practice their choral skills and then perform an evening concert for families and friends.
