Over the years, members of the St. Johns County arts and culture community have repeatedly identified a critical need. The same need is prioritized as a "Strategic Opportunity" by the County's 2010 "Destination Master P

lan" (DMP), specifically: “Add a civic performing arts center in St. Augustine to complement the Flagler College Auditorium”. Community Vision:
A Civic Performing Arts Center (CPAC) can be a hub of artistic and educational activity, a centerpiece of an existing arts district, a catalyst for economic development and new investment, and a cultural legacy for many generations to come. A CPAC can attract high-value commerce and enjoyment to downtown every night of the week and all year long. Augustine’s burgeoning arts and cultural community is one of the County’s most unique assets, both for residents and visitors. “It’s no surprise that an art and culture community formed long ago and continues today. Creative people are drawn to areas that provide inspiration.” - DMP. Augustine lacks sufficient space for production, performance and rehearsal of productions by the many non-academic organizations based here. Most venues are too small for significant staging and viable audience sizes, and too expensive because of the thriving wedding industry here. The only large facility downtown, Lewis Auditorium, is needed most of the time for Flagler College’s academic schedule. The Amphitheater is too large for this intent and does not necessarily bring business downtown.

Romanza is the non-profit that proudly produces the Celtic Festival, as well as promotes the arts in St. Augustine. Way to go, Albert!

Thank you!

So many of you attended the St. Johns County Commission meeting April 15, 2025, that we ran out of "I Support The Shell" stickers. You made a big impression just by being there.

Many folks also made "public comments", including EpiCentre members, other groups, and individuals. There were even positive public comments from people not primarily involved in arts and culture.

Dr. Becher's presentation and our presence clearly impressed all five Commissioners. After an enthusiastic discussion, the Commission reached a consensus and directed County Staff to help us identify the best location for the Shell to be built. That will consider sites in West Augustine and possibly others. Several of the Commissioners requested that we continue to meet regularly with them individually.

Other communications continue with City, County, and State officials, as well as investors, builders, and others.

We will hold another EpiCentre Alliance meeting soon to keep you all updated on progress.

Paid Part-Time Position Available
EMMA Concert Association is hiring a part-time paid Box Office Assistant for the 46th Season, with six ticketed concerts from September 2024 through April 2025.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 5 hours per week in the EMMA office.
Open EMMA emails and forward to appropriate board members.
Print and mail out tickets or hold for Will Call.
Be trained on using MyBoxOffice.us ticketing system.
Manipulate the ticketing software to store, retrieve, and compile info into report forms.
Be able to attend each of EMMA’s concerts to man the box office.
Take 25 tickets per concert to Flagler College.
Assist patrons with ticket purchases.
Resolve customer complaints.
Send donor thank you’s.
Attend the yearly retreat in May.
Attend board meetings as requested.
