⭐️Saturday Spotlight⭐️

Pamela Bell created her work “Under the Same Wind” using oil paint on canvas. She paints a group of people at the front of a boat that is sailing into a vast ocean. Bell is reflecting on the idea that we are all moving through life being carried by some unseen force. She relates this force to the wind that is carrying the sailboat off to sea. In her artist statement, she says that we are “each traveling towards our same horizon.” Even though our journeys, triumphs, and struggles may be different, we are all guided by the Declaration which supports shared hope and the gifts of life and liberty. The journey of life is the pursuit of our happiness, and we are the ones in control.

That’s a wrap on our first session of Summer Art Camp! 🎨☀️

A special thank you to our instructor, Debra Weller, our amazing volunteers, and the parents who encourage their young artists to explore their creativity and connect with the arts. We had a wonderful week and can’t wait for what’s next!

Next week, we kick off Fiesta del Arte—a colorful, hands-on art adventure inspired by the art, music, and stories of Latin America.

Campers will create paper molas, shiny tin carvings, Aztec sun designs, and vibrant yarn molas while exploring exciting paper-layering techniques and experimenting with oil pastels, acrylic paints, and drawing materials. Each day brings new artistic discoveries, creative expression, and meaningful cultural connections.

We can't wait to see what our young artists create! 🌎✨🎨
