Well… after 9 years, Running With Scissors is closing. Permanently.
And before anyone gets all sad and starts sending us crying emojis — don’t.
Nobody died. Nothing terrible happened. We’re not being dragged out of the building kicking and screaming this time.
It’s just time. Most of our children are grown and doing their own thing, and it’s time for us – Heather & Melissa - to have some new adventures as well.
For 9 years, this little business has been a huge part of our lives. We’ve painted, built, crafted, made soap, laughed a LOT, cleaned up an unbelievable amount of glitter (and probably will be for the next 9 years), and met some truly wonderful people along the way.
I’ll never forget the day Melissa came to me and said “We should tear apart pallets and make signs using your vinyl cutter.” What started as a crazy little idea turned into something we are incredibly proud of.
But sometimes you reach a point where you realize a chapter has done exactly what it was supposed to do. You’ve loved it, you’ve enjoyed it, you’ve given it everything you had… and now you’re ready to turn the page.
That’s where we are.
We aren’t sad. We aren’t bitter. And we definitely don’t feel like we failed.
Quite the opposite.
We did the thing.
We built a business. We made memories. We made friends. We survived 9 years of workshops, hot glue burns, paint spills, last-minute registrations, Facebook lives, DIY kits, soap batter messes, crazy ideas and probably more trips to get wood than any human should ever make.
And now? We’re ready to see what life looks like without Running With Scissors running the show.
So please don’t be sad for us.
Come see us. Use those gift certificates. Buy some stuff off the shelves. Take one last workshop. Laugh with us. Help us go out with a bang.
And when November 30th gets here, we’ll lock the door for the last time, probably raise a glass, look at each other and say…
“Well, THAT was fun.”
Thank you for 9 amazing years. Truly.
We wouldn’t trade the experience, the memories, the friendships we’ve watched you form or the people we’ve met for anything.
But it’s time for the next adventure. 💜✂️
We know you are going to have questions. We probably do not have all the answers right now – we’re not sure exactly how things are going to play out, but here’s what you can expect to see in the coming months…
• It will be business as usual through October and most of November.
• Please use up your gift certificates!! Those are non-refundable, but you have time to book a workshop, soapmaking session, buy finished items, retail items, or DIY kits. The last day GC’s can be used is November 19th. They WILL NOT be redeemable once we start selling fixtures and supplies.
• Our last day in the studio is projected to be November 19th for standard business. We intend to turn over the keys on November 30th. The week between will be a supplies & fixtures sale.
• We will have a Christmas Live sale the second week of October
• There will be a clearance sale to sell off any and all finished projects and retail items. We’re not sure when that’s going to be yet, so just watch the calendar. Likely the first part of November, but possibly later.
• Interchangeables – If you have a newer interchangeable set, we will make sure we design an insert for every season or holiday so you are not left without an insert. We also have tentative plans to have a bulk sale on these.
• The website will stay live for a period of time, however, online ordering will be shut off. It will basically be there for the pictures and options. You will be able to order blanks for a short period of time (basically until we run out of wood). Just message us on Facebook or email us to order.
• Subscription clubs:
o $10 nights go through November (they are paid through November)
o Soapers Clubs – one ends in September, one in October
o Year of Soap – We will finish this out – but there will be two in November instead of one in December
o A Crafty Affair Craft Club will go through November
o Crafty Chicks Craft Club will end with it’s final scheduled month of September – it just won’t be renewed.
o Any DIY subscription clubs will begin to be canceled (tiered tray, bi-monthly, insert club, Christmas club, ornament clubs)
