As the name implies, Triple Threat Theatre (T3) provides a platform for young aspiring artists, to train and hone skills for a quality musical theatre performance. into triple threat performers. The session runs from Jan. 7- May 20, 2018. Only a select few will be accepted into this specialized program and you must sign up/attend the 'audition workshop' on Nov. 19, 2017 from 5-8pm. This 18 week (5
4hrs) workshop of intense training in vocal, acting and performance, is only $500 (about $9/hr) and culminates in a showcase. The workshop will be conducted by Candy Kotze, Laura Brigham and Sara Taylor. A T3 performer MUST already be taking (or sign up to take) tap, ballet, and jazz/lyrical (This is not included in the cost of the T3 workshop). Candy will help you find classes that fit your level or form a beginner’s class, or provide privates to get you adjusted in these areas. The breakdown is as follows:
8-12yrs:
- No less than 45min per week of tap and jazz/lyrical
- No less than 1hr per/week of ballet
13-18yrs:
- No less than 1hr per/week of tap and jazz/lyrical
- More than 1hr per/week of ballet
Candy Kotze
Candy has travelled the world with her dance career. She started at age 18yrs. working for a professional company called Ginger Corte Productions on the island of Aruba. After that she went on to do Disney and Holland America Cruise line. She played 'The Wife' in the Broadway touring show of 'Contact' performing the original choreography of Susan Stroman. Candy worked 3 yrs. Korea as an Edutainer performing in kids shows teaching them English through theatre, dance, games and storytelling. She’s choreographed the musicals Hairspray, Spamalot and Young Frankenstein at Pit and Balcony. Candy now teaches tap, ballet, lyrical, jazz and musical theatre at Bohaty School of Dance in Shields, MI. She graduated from CMU with a Major in Earth Science and Minor in Dance and a Teaching Certificate in Secondary Education. Laura Brigham
Laura is a private acting/audition coach in Midland, MI (Brigham Studios). Laura Co-founded a professional summer theatre in Princeton, IL and is currently serving as Interim Artistic Director for the company. Laura is in her 15th year as the Casting Director for Festival 56 and watches over 1000 artists audition every year. She lived in New York for several years and has worked as a professional actor in 46 states. Beyond her acting career, she has directed more than 40 productions, and has taught classes, camps, been guest speaker and/or written programs for Theatre camps in: Midland, MI, Saginaw, MI, Princeton, IL, Henry, IL, Tampa, FL, Nantucket, RI, Providence, RI, Gainesville, FL, and Portland, OR. Sara Taylor
Sara is an accompanist, church musician, collaborative pianist, musical director and vocal coach! Her area of expertise is musical theater, but was classically trained and skilled in traditional piano fare as well! Sara studied with Dr. Sara Hansen at Delta College and Dr. Joseph Gurt at Eastern Michigan University. She is affiliated with multiple arts entities throughout the Tri-Cities, including Midland Center for The Arts, Pit and Balcony Theater, Bay City Players, SVSU, The Saginaw Bay Orchestra, The Passion Theater Group, and The Saginaw Choral Society.
