Formed in 2017 and featuring members of Possession, Despondency, Beyond, and other notable underground acts, the pedigree behind this band is impossible to ignore.

Their sound is difficult to pin down in the best way possible. Black metal, death metal, technical precision, complete chaos.

Their 2025 album Diabolic Messiah of the New World Order arrived so late in the year that most records would have missed the cutoff for a lot of year end discussions. Instead it still found its way onto countless album of the year lists and immediately established itself as one of the standout metal releases of 2025.

For 2026, Wretched Rites will host the band's only scheduled United States appearance.

That alone should tell you everything you need to know.

Infernal Steel are still a new band on paper, but there’s no shortage of experience behind what they’re doing. Featuring members of Abhorrency and Deiphage, the band has only played a handful of shows so far under this banner, but the response has been immediate.

The debut EP arrives before Wretched Rites, and after hearing it more times than I can count, I can say without hesitation that it rules.

Think Manowar meeting black metal. Huge leads, triumphant melodies, and a clear devotion to the kind of songwriting that made bands like Solstice stand apart from everyone else.

For anyone outside Northern California, opportunities to catch Infernal Steel are still rare.

Sacramento forged this one in its own fire.

Again, thank you for everyone who's already purchased tickets especially with all the other s**t going on. As you can tell by the lineup we pushed the budget a lot farther this year not expecting to have so many things pop up around the same time and all the on sale s**t for other s**t next year going on at the same time. Oh well it is what it is! We're roughly 35 percent sold at this point which is cool, and definitely ahead of the pace of last year. In all reality we're gonna need to come pretty close to a sellout for Wretched Rites to continue next year. P**s Baptism have become one of those bands people in Sacramento will show up for every single time. Doesn’t matter if it’s a warehouse, skate shop, or a real venue. The room fills up anyway.

Their mix of black metal and grindcore has made them one of the most in demand underground bands in the area over the last few years, even while dialing the live shows back a bit this year.

The 2024 split on Transylvanian Recordings doesn’t feel like a peak. It feels like the start of something much bigger. 

Last year they played the prefest.

Now they become one of two bands to make the jump from the Wretched Rites prefest to the main fest itself, opening day two on the main stage at Harlow’s.

Sacramento made this happen.

INSANITY - SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA

Formed in 1985, Insanity have reformed and disbanded a handful of times over the years, with the most recent return happening in 2018. Since then, the band has come back swinging harder than ever.

Insanity are still overlooked by a lot of people as true pioneers of the death/thrash sound. Go back to the 1985 demo and try finding many bands from that era with vocals this harsh and music this intense. While most bands were still stuck in straightforward thrash, Insanity already sounded completely......INSANE

Everything finally got the proper full length treatment with Death After Death in 1993, now considered an essential record by anyone deep into underground extreme metal.

And they still haven’t stopped. Visions of Apocalypse in 2010 proved the band still had it, while last year’s Rotted Soul EP showed there’s still plenty left in the tank.

Live performances from Insanity are few and far between, which makes this one feel even more special.

Do not miss the chance to see them melt faces in Sacramento.
