Fair Friday is taking us to the CA State Fair Farm Presented by Save Mart! 🌱🐄

🤠✨ Throwing it back to 2005, when Western style took Center Stage at the California State Fair!👢

One of the highlights of the day was the Western Wear Fashion Show, featuring upscale Western fashions from Wrangler, Western Wearhouse of Sacramento, and Bobbi Faria’s Yosemite Hide Company.

But this wasn’t your ordinary runway! The models were members of the cattlemen’s community, including ranchers, association presidents, and agricultural industry leaders. 🐄🌾

The show even featured pink Western fashions as part of Wrangler’s campaign supporting Breast Cancer Awareness. 💗

🪵✨ Wood you believe it? In 2001, the California State Fair showcased the incredible artistry, creativity, and craftsmanship that can come from one simple material - wood! 🌳

What began as a small wood exhibit in the California Living Building grew into something much bigger: The Spirit of Wood!

Fairgoers stepped into a world where ordinary pieces of California-grown wood became extraordinary works of art. There were woodturners, carvers, furniture makers, and toy makers demonstrating their craft - and plenty of “Wait…you made THAT out of wood?!” moments. 🤯🔨

Huge slabs of California wood showed visitors where it all began, while talented artists showed just how much creativity, skill, and imagination could come from a single piece of timber.

🚤 Making Waves at the Fair: Throwback to 2007! 🌊

In 2007, the California State Fair celebrated California Boating’s 50th Anniversary with an incredible 7,000-square-foot exhibit created right here at Cal Expo.

The “50 Years of Boating” exhibit showcased the many ways Californians enjoy and connect with our waterways - from Lake Tahoe and the Colorado River to the Delta and California’s oceans and coastline.

Visitors could explore boating history, water trails, safety and environmental information, interactive exhibits, and an impressive collection of boats and artifacts, including a vintage Chris-Craft, antique outboard motors, early life vests, kayaks, canoes, and even a 16-foot Native tule reed boat.

With interactive stations, educational displays, and boats suspended overhead, the exhibit offered something for everyone, from avid boaters and fishermen to families simply looking to learn more about California’s waterways.
