ICYMI—5th Annual There Should Be a Law Contest!
Have you ever had a problem and thought there should be a law to fix it?

Here is your chance to create the change you want to see.

Enter the California State Council on Developmental Disabilities (SCDD) 5th Annual There Should Be a Law Contest!

Anyone can enter! Send your problem and solution for consideration as future legislation sponsored by SCDD.

Past winning ideas include:
1. Strengthen plain language used by governmental agencies
2. More mental health supports
3. Conservatorship Reform: Signed into law https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billNavClient.xhtml?bill_id=202120220AB1663.
4. Make Fair Hearings Fair: passed via Budget (AB188/SB188) https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billTextClient.xhtml?bill_id=202120220AB188&search_keywords=fair%23%23%23hearings%23%23%23developmental.

The contest will run from June 2 – July 18, 2025.

The idea must benefit people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
