Christopher Nolan has officially reached a brand new milestone. The Odyssey has now become the highest grossing film of his entire career, surpassing The Dark Knight Rises at the worldwide box office. Even more impressive, it is the first Christopher Nolan movie to cross the incredible $1.1 billion mark globally.

For a director known for creating complex, original stories that challenge audiences, this achievement makes the success even more remarkable. Nolan has always trusted viewers to keep up with his ambitious storytelling, and fans have continued to reward that vision by showing up in theaters. From Memento and The Prestige, to Inception, Interstellar, Dunkirk, Oppenheimer, and now The Odyssey, he has built one of the most respected filmographies in modern cinema.

Many expected The Odyssey to be another visually stunning epic, but few predicted it would become Nolan’s biggest commercial success ever. The film has now rewritten his own box office history, proving once again that audiences are still willing to experience grand, original filmmaking on the biggest screen possible.

Motor City 2026 Film 3/5 ⭐️

Motor City is set in 1970s Detroit and stars Alan Ritchson as a man who falls in love with his gangster boss's girlfriend, played by Shailene Woodley. After he proposes to her and she accepts, his jealous boss (Ben Foster) frames him by planting drugs in his car with the help of a corrupt police department. After spending years in prison while enduring constant harassment from police officers, correctional officers, and even his former boss, he decides it's time to escape and get his revenge.

The action scenes are quite entertaining, particularly a brutal elevator fight that stands out as one of the film's highlights. Unfortunately, the movie mostly misses the mark because of its near-total lack of dialogue. I believe there are fewer than five complete lines spoken throughout the entire film. While I applaud the director for attempting something different, the approach ultimately hurts the overall experience. The soundtrack is used so frequently that it often feels more like a feature-length music video than a traditional film. Even when characters are supposedly having conversations, they usually whisper or mutter only a word or two, which I found distracting and made it harder to connect with the story.

The ending is also a bit of a head-scratcher and left me with more questions than answers. That said, as an action fan, I still had a good time watching it. I ultimately preferred Silent Night, another action film with minimal dialogue, as I felt that movie handled its unique storytelling approach more effectively.
