“Sic,” a solo exhibition by Gale Hart includes bronze and steel sculpture as well as a series of paintings that were created during lockdown in response to the pandemic and America’s political meltdown. As I walk through the train station, I’m stopped by a man who says that he hopes I have a blessed day, and he is sending me “yellow balls of positive energy.” I’m not exactly sure what this means, but I say “thank you” and keep walking up the stairs. The cut on her arm is thin, beaded at one end with blood. Fresh and untouched. Does she know it’s there or did her paper skin catch on some sharp piece of life and quietly tear?
