About the Play:
JOTA is a solo show that follows a young q***r Mexican Indigenous woman as she prepares to leave home and begin a new chapter. Through the objects she packs, she unearths memories that explore her identity, culture, and q***rness. A story of resilience, self-discovery, and the power of carrying our histories with us.

About the Playwright:
Bahena-Benitez (they/she) is a q***r Mexican Indigenous multidisciplinary artist based between California and New York. A Miranda Family Fellow alum, Katherine has trained with the American Conservatory Theater, the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center, and Broadway Advocacy Coalition at Columbia University. Their work has been featured in Vogue, HipLatina, Remezcla, and more. JOTA marks the debut of Katherine’s first solo show—shared with deep joy at Teatro Espejo, the very first theater they ever worked with. Katherine shares, “Con mucho amor y cariño, I do this for our gente. I do this for us.”

Cal Cap Black Box Theatre is now Fat Elephant Theatre Company! 🐘 🎭 Located at 9845 Horn Road, Fat Elephant Theatre Company plans to deliver even more riveting performances, concerts and fun including the Rancho Cordova Podcast and its annual International Documentary Film Festival.

About the Film Festival 🍿

The third annual Documentary Film Festival will take place from March 7 – 9 and will feature over 30 films from 10 countries on three screens in three days. And, this year, you can watch the films in person or virtually. For tickets and information, visit CalCapDocFest.org.
