Friday's Prairie Inspiration is Bounty from the Garden! I don't profess to be a gardener but I do grow tomatoes and peppers. Anything else is a bonus (and generally comes from other peoples' gardens). I will be canning salsa and tomato puree' as well as some diced tomatoes. Also, I have some zucchini to shred and freeze. It will all taste good this Winter!

Friday's Prairie Inspiration is "Recognizing Art in a Spider Web". I was amazed at this artistically crafted artwork in my front yard this morning. The spider who crafted it is truly a "Master". And although it won't be here tomorrow, it is still an amazing creation that blends functionality with beauty! Hope you have a chance to get out this weekend a few more amazing works of art!

This week's Work in Progress is "Milkweed and Monarch". I have been noticing butterflies here lately - Monarchs, Swallowtails, and little Yellow Sulfers. I just love to watch them! This picture will be mounted on an old piece of ceiling tin.

We had so much fun needle felting butterflies at River Heights Yarn Co in Manhattan, Kansas Saturday afternoon. Somehow I missed getting pictures of a few, but here are most of them. We had quite a variety! This was the first time I have taught this class so I want to thank all the students for their patience and helping me work out the "bugs". I hope we can do this class again!

Friday's Prairie Inspiration - Can you believe my Lilac bush is blooming again in August? This is the third year it has done this. Near as I can tell from my research, it may be stress. I know with the late freeze and the heat this summer the bush lost its leaves in July - no doubt, stressful. This Lilac bush is over 100 years old and is an heirloom, so I want to keep it healthy. I will leave the blooms, mulch it well this fall and hope for a more normal year next year.

This week's Work in Progress is a poor little needle felted squirrel which was attacked by a cat. He is back in my studio for repairs. Fortunately, no broken limbs and his head is still attached. I will be giving him a new coat of fur and an acorn in time for winter.
My experience is that when it comes to needle felted items, the Cat always wins!
