THE BEALS PRIZE FOR POETRY – CALL FOR ENTRIES – PLEASE SHARE!
The Beals Memorial Library in Winchendon, MA is now accepting entries into the Sixth Annual Beals Prize Poetry through Friday, August 15, 2025. There is no fee to enter.

CONTEST RULES AND INFORMATION:
• Only one poem per poet can be submitted.
• All submissions must be original and previously unpublished.
• Contestants must live in Massachusetts or in one of these New Hampshire towns: Keene, Swanzey, Richmond, Fitzwilliam, Troy, Marlborough, Dublin, Peterborough, Jaffrey, Rindge, New Ipswich, Greenville, and Sharon.
• Submissions must be emailed to: [email protected] (Word docs preferred).
• Notification of receipt of entry will be via return email.
• Competition finalists will be notified on or before Friday, September 12.
• At the Awards Night on Thursday, September 25, ten finalists will vie for the prize money of $250 for first, $100 for second, and $50 for third.
• All entries will be judged blindly, meaning that the judges will not know who the poet is.
• Previous Beals Prize first place winners and immediate family members of Beals Library staff are not eligible to participate.
• Submitters should be at least 18 years of age.

You may have heard that the Grants Management System was down today, and people weren’t able to submit applications. Because of that, we’re extending the deadline to apply to Wednesday, October 19th, at 11:59 PM.

The 2023 Fiscal Year Grant Application process will be online beginning September 1, 2022, with the deadline for submitting an application on October 17, 2022.

The application process can be accessed at https://massculturalcouncil.smartsimple.com. Questions can be addressed to Cultural_Council/townofrutland.org

The Rutland Cultural Council (RCC) promotes excellence, access, education, and diversity in the arts, humanities, and interpretive sciences to improve the quality of life for all Rutland residents and contributes to the economic vitality of our community. The Council pursues this mission through the awarding of grants for nonprofit cultural organizations, schools, communities, and artists. The grant program is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

The Mass Cultural Council has advised that the Grant Application deadline has been updated, and will now end on Monday, December 14. This is due to the lack of a state budget at this time. Further updates will be available the end of November, if this date needs to be revised.

The Online Grant Application process on Mass-Cultural.org for the FY 2021 will be available as of Thursday, October 1. The deadline for submitting the Grant Application is Monday, November 16.
