‘AMATERASU’ - Japanese sun goddess in Shinto mythology representing the sun’s power and importance.
This the name Nick and I decided to bestow on the new look and era of his WRX.
We were planning to wrap his whip for a while, but if we were gonna do it I wanted to design a wrap from scratch that would be far above and beyond even top tier wraps. Started tossing around ideas and finally said f**k it, I’m just gonna start designing a scheme and let it flesh out throughout the process.
This is currently at layer 2 of 4. The pictures don’t begin to show the level of detail. Initially the car was wrapped in a graphic scheme over the whole car in a network of intricate stripes to be the underlays. Then I wrapped the car in Avery Gloss Solar Dawn over top, including the STi wing (which I’m anxious to see another done in person if it’s out there).
Nick acquired a carbon fiber hood he got refinished/repainted; which was wrapped both to match the underlays & scheme, but also leaving exposed carbon to show the hoods true identity.
The next layer is Satin black graphics within the underlay portions; and finished in reflective red intertwined within the previous layers.
Beyond what performance parts, big turbo, top mount cooler, etc., and ecu mapping Nick already did; he swapped headlights, taillights, KW coils, replacement Maxton lips/skirts, new rims/rubbers, and the list remains growing. This thing has taken a whole new form, and it’s sexy as f**k; not only that but dialed in and one of the funnest cars to drive year round.
You can love or hate the color, but frankly it’s not your car, and this thing is becoming a beautiful build/work of art.
It’s not even close to finished and already next level, stop playing with me!
