Auditions Announced:
The Rutherford County Arts Council will hold auditions for our fall family musical, "The Golden Goose," on Tuesday, August 22 and Thursday, August 24 at the Maple Street Theatre from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. Please plan to attend both auditions as there will only be two.
The performances will be held the weekend of November 10th.
This comedic musical play by Diane McEnnerney is based on the classic tale "The Princess Who Couldn't Laugh" by the brothers Grimm. Princess Gwendolyn cannot laugh, and refuses to marry. The King and Queen, in a desperate attempt, try to force her hand by staging a competition - whichever suitor can make the princess laugh will win her hand. Characters include Courtiers and Townsfolk, the magical Sprites of the Elven Kingdom, the Farmer, his Wife and their three Sons, and more!
Many roles are available for all ages and no previous experience is required. (Note: We need someone who can juggle, and someone who can walk on their hands!)

Rutherford County Arts Council has announced upcoming events at Maple Street Theatre! On Saturday, October 23rd there will be a reception and concert marking the 50th Anniversary of The Arts Council’s work in the County. The Reception begins at 5:30 PM, Refreshments will be provided, and all supporters and participants over the years are encouraged to attend!

At 7 PM, there will be a free performance by The U. S. Air Force Heritage of America Band as a part of their Rhythm In Blue Tour.
Arts Council officials stated: “we are honored to present such an outstanding musical ensemble from one of our great military services.”

Arrangements are also being made for live streaming coverage which will be announced later.

For admission to either event, please call Event Manager, Marsha Daves at 704-840-4314. Please provide your name and the number of reservations you want for each event. The celebration will be held at Maple Street Theatre, 132 Maple Street, Rutherfordton, NC 28139.
