As a calligrapher, I have learned how people love to see their name written beautifully. It’s fun to give others this little, happy gift.
Beautiful spring tablescape designed by on this day in 2022. (Time flies!)

My annual Christmas Eve place cards…Scroll to see a part of the process!
Each part is made by hand with love. I trimmed some robins egg blue plain folded cards from and cut them to make them square. Then I pasted on some fun Christmas paper leaving a blue edge. Secondly I did the calligraphy on some round tags and backed them with some red paper to make them “pop.” The secret ingredients? Some puffy sticky dots to add depth and some cute little velvet bows (which covered the hole of the tag). All of these items were purchased at !)

We put at least one of these yearly place cards on the tree every year. (I started saving them in 1992 when Kevin and I started dating!).

Anna Kate and Jackson’s invitation suite was designed to feel deeply personal, blending meaningful details and hand-drawn artistry. It began with a custom monogram. I wanted to use the two letters in Anna Kate’s name because Jackson calls her “AK” often. I loved carefully combining the feminine “AK” with the masculine “J” to create a unique design. We used this monogram in so many fun ways! A watercolor crest of the flowers was hand painted by .davis.creative. Inside, a hand-drawn envelope liner featured flowers representing their home states of Louisiana and Texas, a nod to where their story began and where it continues. (We incorporated magnolias — the state flower of Louisiana as well as roses because Tyler, Texas is “The Rose capital of America”.)
-
A sketch of their venue, The Ida Grey, captured the elegance of the iconic Ruston, Louisiana home. The hand-drawn map showed the charm of the town and helped with parking challenges!
-
The outer envelopes were a soft blue with blue ink hand calligraphy, each envelope designed to set the tone of the wedding and to make each guest feel loved!
-
Every detail was thoughtfully created by hand to tell a bit of their story.

I don’t fully understand it, but I’m thankful. The sovereignty of God. God is so big and so powerful, so beyond our comprehension that he works through human actions, even harmful ones, to achieve His purposes and bring about good outcomes for His glory.
