Throughout my life, I’ve had the privilege of meeting incredible people from military, civilian, and professional backgrounds who have enriched my journey in ways I can never fully repay. As a business owner and someone dedicated to helping veterans through my forge, I’ve been blessed with support, knowledge, encouragement, and sponsorships that helped build something far bigger than myself. For that, I am deeply grateful.
Along the way, I’ve also learned that groups of passionate people can sometimes become like one big, happy, dysfunctional family. And like any family, there are disagreements, misunderstandings, hurt feelings, and different perspectives. There are always two sides to every story, and sometimes words are spoken out of context, emotion, frustration, or pain.
What matters most is remembering that every person brings value. No one should have to carry feelings of inadequacy, belittlement, or worthlessness because of conflict or misunderstanding. Thick skin may help us survive difficult moments, but kindness, respect, and empathy are what help communities thrive.
At the end of the day, every person contributes something meaningful to this world, whether through service, skill, support, knowledge, or simply showing up for others. That worth should never be forgotten.
