We typically give two concerts per year at either the local high school or a local church. The Rush County Chorale was formed in 2002 when a desire to have a community choir was expressed by several musically inclined individuals who had collaborated on different projects in the community, in particular The Rushville Music Study Club. A planning committee was organized and auditions and rehearsals
were held prior to the first concert, which was offered free of charge on November 24, 2002, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rushville, IN. Gabriel Faure's "Requiem" was performed with string ensemble and organ. Community response was impressive in the number of people involved as members of the choir, and even more so in 500+ in attendance at the concert. From this it was decided that this community would likely appreciate and support a venture such as this. Rehearsing and performing choral masterpieces is a recurring project and the substance of this organization’s mission of fostering musical appreciation and skills within and for our community. The people of this community and the surrounding communities are the target audience for participating in and attending our program.
