A lot of people ask what inspired me to start my beer b***o business… and the truth is, it all goes back to my brother, Levi ❤️
Just a few hours after he was born, Levi contracted spinal meningitis, which led to cerebral palsy. Growing up with him shaped me in ways I don’t think anything else ever could. He taught me how to stand up for myself and for others, how to lead with empathy and compassion, and how to truly see people for who they are. He’s always been my reminder that life doesn’t always go the way we expect—and that’s exactly why kindness matters so much.
Levi lived at home with us until he was 12, and when his care needs grew, he moved to Horizons residential center. As hard as that was, it was also such a blessing that he was only 10 minutes away instead of hours.
A few years later when I was old enough, I was absolutely determined to bring something special to him and the other kids at their annual Halloween party… so I brought the donkeys, and my kitten.
We were the “Furious Four” (long before the movie 😂): Penny, Nickel, Pickles, and me. And from the moment they arrived, something just clicked. Those donkeys walked up to each child like they already knew them—gentle, curious, and full of love. They let the kids hug them, laugh with them, and just *be* with them. And Levi… his face always lit up. Every single time, it was like, “another animal?!” 😂
Over the years we’ve brought goats, mini pigs, even Australian Shepherds—but without fail, everyone always asks for the donkeys.
That’s really where it all began. What started as something simple for my brother grew into something that now brings joy to so many people—and that’s how the beer b***o business came to life and continues to grow today.
I’ll always be grateful to Horizons for welcoming us year after year and letting us share that kind of connection with their students. It means more than I can put into words.
Levi is still my “why” in all of this. He reminds me that sometimes the smallest, simplest things—like a donkey walking up to say hello—can make the biggest impact. And if we can bring even a little bit of that joy to others, then we’re doing something right ❤️🐴
