Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southeast Michigan about Jingle Bells & Power Cords: The Big Holiday Battle of the Bands.
We’ve extended artist applications to September 18, 2026, in part to give more Southeast Michigan artists, campus musicians, student bands, performers, producers, choirs, and creative collaborators time to jump in as the fall season gets moving.
We’re really trying to build this into a Detroit holiday music tradition: local artists reimagining holiday classics, fans rallying behind their favorites, and the whole thing raising dollars for one-to-one youth mentorship through BBBSSEM.
We would love for you to be part of helping us build that early momentum by sharing the opportunity with local musicians, music students, bands, solo artists, DJs, producers, vocalists, choirs, or creative performers who might want to apply.

What it is:
A virtual holiday cover competition where Southeast Michigan artists put their own spin on a holiday classic.
Who can apply:
Bands, solo artists, duos, choirs, vocalists, rappers, DJs, producers, ensembles, student musicians, and creative collaborators.
Application deadline:
September 18, 2026
Competition launch:
Black Friday, November 27, 2026
How voting works:
Fans vote by donating: $1 = 1 vote.
Prizes:
The winner receives 10% of the total raised, and the runner-up receives 5%.
What artists need to apply:
The application is free and easy. Artists do not need a finished video ready to apply. They’ll share basic contact info, music/social links, a live performance link, and an idea for a holiday cover.
