How about this!? One of our first plays - and the play written by Bill Seimer that gave our show its name - was recently performed in the Trinity Alps Performing Arts Center. It looks like a musical - a musical situated in Slab City no less.

This month we present a play by Darren Abersold, "There's Worse Places To Die". It's about Jack, the pilot of a small plane, and his passengers, a family of three. They're in Alaska flying over glaciers, when circumstances enable the son, Billy, to learn some life-changing lessons. Directed by John Welsh, it features Lanson Zaniroli as Billy, Ann Marie Lockamy as Susan, Tyler Lockamy as Nick, John Welsh as Jack, and Bob Christensen as the helicopter pilot. It's hosted by Dickie Magidoff, and technical production is by Lili Dubois.

Between Heaven And Hell is the story of the uneasy reunion of two adult siblings, and the unusual visitors who present some unsettling complications in their lives. The Marathon Race introduces a new & unique extreme sport in rural Shasta County.

China is putting data centers on the ocean floor.

Instead of building every server farm on land, engineers are placing sealed data center modules underwater.

The idea is simple.

Servers create huge amounts of heat.

Traditional data centers need massive cooling systems, electricity, and sometimes huge amounts of water just to stop them overheating.

But underwater, the ocean itself becomes the cooling system.

The surrounding seawater helps absorb the heat, reducing the need for traditional air conditioning and freshwater cooling.

China has already been testing and building underwater data center projects, including sites linked to Hainan and Shanghai.

The modules are sealed, pressure-resistant, and designed to sit beneath the sea while running computing workloads for things like AI, cloud services, and data processing.

Supporters say the benefits could be huge.

Less land use.

Less freshwater demand.

Lower cooling energy.

And a new way to build data centers without covering so much land with giant warehouse-style server farms.

But there are still big questions.

Saltwater corrosion.

Maintenance.

Subsea cables.

Marine impact.

And whether this can work reliably at large scale.

Still, the concept is wild.

While some countries are fighting over land for data centers, China is moving part of the internet underwater.

"Doubt Is Our Product" written by Joe Graceffo, which originally aired on Tuesday April 21st 2018 will be rebroadcast at 8 PM on Thursday June 4th. It's the story of money, greed and the 1960s to***co industry.
The play is directed by John Welsh, hosted by Elsie Ritchie, and the cast includes Keith Rose, Blake Fisher, Kaxia Wilkens, Dickie Magidoff, and Don Tamblyn, as big to***co strategists in 1964. Tech production is by Lili Dubois.

Joe submitted the script, along with our radio show, to the Cambridge, England Radio Drama Festival script contest. From all of the scripts entered, 58 were selected for the finals. "Doubt Is Our Product" is one of three finalists chosen from the USA.

Deborah is a regular blogger to the website All Women All Trails where she documents her experiences while mentoring others. She is the founder of Hike For Harvey. Dedicated to her father, Hike For Harvey is a way one can dedicate miles on the trail to Alzheimer’s awareness. And, there is a book in the works, Trail Truth, a compilation of stories from fellow hikers.
